Professor Lundan grew up in Finland and is a Finnish citizen. She studied Finance and International Business at Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, earning her Ph.D. in 1996.
Her first academic appointment was at the University of Reading, UK where she contributed to the work of the well-known research group on International Business. She left Reading to join the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, where she spent eleven years, before joining the University of Bremen in April 2010.
In addition to her academic appointments, Professor Lundan has served as a Senior Economic Affairs Officer and a scholar in residence at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva.
She is a Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB) and the European Academy of International Business (EIBA), in recognition of ‘outstanding achievements in research and education in the field of International Business’. In 2013, she served as President of EIBA, and in 2016-18 as Vice President Program on the Executive Board of AIB.
She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Business Policy (JIBP) and a member of the editorial board of seven other journals, including the sister journal of JIBP, the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS), one of the top ranked journals in Business and Management.
